In a recent incident in Lucknow, two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle allegedly shot at a mobile phone shop owner named Pramod Gupta in the Narahi area within the Hazratganj police station limits. The attackers fled the scene after the attack, leaving Gupta critically injured with bullet wounds to his jaw and waist. Gupta, believed to be in his early 40s, was immediately rushed to a hospital, where his condition remains critical.

Law enforcement authorities, including Assistant Commissioner of Police Arvind Kumar Verma, have initiated an investigation into the incident. Several teams have been formed to identify and track down the assailants. As of now, the police are unable to provide further details about the incident due to the ongoing investigation.

Reacting to the incident, Akhilesh Yadav, the chief of the Samajwadi Party and former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, criticized the government, labeling it as the “government of fake encounters.” Yadav demanded that the government reveal the source of the pistols used in such incidents. He claimed that these pistols have now made their way close to the chief minister’s residence through these shootouts.

Hazratganj, where the incident took place, is located in the heart of Lucknow and is known for its posh markets and important government buildings, including the legislative assembly, Lok Bhawan, and various government offices. The area is in close proximity to the official residence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The police and investigative agencies are actively working to apprehend the culprits and gather more information about the motive behind the attack. The incident highlights the need for enhanced security measures in the region and emphasizes the importance of prompt action to ensure the safety and well-being of citizens.
