The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has issued a warning, stressing the need for Opposition parties to come together and present a united front in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha election. AAP’s national spokesperson, Saurabh Bharadwaj, expressed concern that if the Opposition fails to unite, there may not be another election in the country.
Bharadwaj highlighted the aggressive tactics employed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), such as using investigative agencies like the CBI and ED to target Opposition leaders and incarcerating them. He emphasized that if Narendra Modi were to become the Prime Minister again in 2024, there is a possibility that the Constitution could be altered, effectively declaring him the “king” of the country until his demise. Such an outcome, according to Bharadwaj, would jeopardize the hard-fought freedom for which countless lives were sacrificed.
Addressing concerns about AAP’s impact on Congress’ electoral performance in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, Bharadwaj proposed a dialogue between the parties, suggesting that they negotiate their electoral battlegrounds. He cited the example of Congress contesting elections in Delhi, despite failing to win any seats in 2015. Urging Congress to come to the table and engage in discussions, Bharadwaj emphasized the importance of unity among the Opposition parties.
Additionally, the AAP spokesperson criticized the Congress party for allegedly replicating ideas from AAP’s manifestos. He claimed that the oldest political party in the country is not only facing a leadership crisis but also a dearth of innovative ideas. Bharadwaj pointed out that after initially mocking Arvind Kejriwal and AAP’s welfare schemes, such as free water and electricity, and free bus rides for women, the Congress party has now started imitating these ideas.
With the 2024 elections approaching, the AAP is advocating for a united opposition front, emphasizing the urgency of discussions and collaboration among opposition parties to effectively challenge the ruling BJP and protect democratic principles in the country.
