Everyone has a variety of rights like the right to education right to vote. But those who fight for rights such as lawyers, advocates, or any law firms. They don’t have the right to promote their services to promote or advertise. The bar council of India has strongly said to follow rule number 36 which says that no advocates or law firms can advertise their services through any ads posters banners or something.
Attract the client, through newspapers print media, or through online platforms such as social media like facebook Twitter or anything that is known as legal advertising. some of the things which are prohibited int he legal advertising are:-

  1. lawyers or law firms cannot directly or indirectly advertise their services through any form of advertising and attracting clients.
  2. in the newspapers also he cannot come with a photo or any inspiring comment.
  3. through any sign board also he or she cannot indicate whether he is a member of the bar council or not or whether he is the president or not.
The main question arises why it is not allowed to do such things for the advocates. The reason behind this is that lawyers have a noble profession and they don’t need to advertise their services but their main motive is to provide justice to their clients. It is not a trade or a business that is to be done through advertising or something.
Advertising creates unhealthy competition which creates the use of unfair practices. Advertising expenditure can create fee hikes too.
