Airlines’ history at its new place is to be recreated with the works of sculptures, paintings artifacts, and other artworks. These works are of M.F. Husain, S.H. Raza, and Salavdor Doli. A total of 4,000 artworks including all of these are to be borrowed by Air India.
There is tension between which has been created because of the government’s decision whether to transfer all of these artworks including sculptures paintings and artifacts from the airline network to the National Gallery of Modern Arts(NGMA).
A cataloging process will be done as said by the senior official of NGMA. Without this process, these artworks won’t be transferred to Delhi.

Some of the best-known artists include:-

  1. M.F. Hussain
  2. S.H. Raza
    3.S.Gaintonde
  3. K.A Ara
  4. Anjolis Ela Menon
  5. Arpana Caur
    7.B.Prabha
The artworks which are being collected are from the early 1950s and 2007.
Some of the artifacts like ashtrays were designed by Salvador Dali and it is to be given to first-class passengers as a gift.
Meera Das an art historian doubted NGMA as NGMA only stored modern art and if they took away all the artifacts from Air India. Air India has one of the richest collections of all artifacts around 4,000. Meera Das added to the statement that NGMA would also have space constraints with the artworks as they wouldn’t get where to keep all those artifacts.
She also said that India needs a dedicated museum alongside the US, Germany, UK which will consider that we were early entrants to the sky market.
Airline India kept all the artworks with itself to showcase “Some of the India” which includes all the artworks across the world expanding its culture etc.
Even after the airline’s privatization ,Air India took the responsibility for its custody of all the artworks.
