Set against the backdrop of the historic Bharat Mandapam, this culinary extravaganza promises to be a feast for both the senses and the soul. Here, leaders from around the world will have the opportunity to explore the vibrant world of Indian street food and relish innovative millet-based dishes that showcase the nation’s culinary diversity.

Muktesh Pardeshi, G20 India Special Secretary, enthusiastically spoke about this endeavor, highlighting the dedication of chefs working tirelessly to craft a menu that encapsulates the very essence of Indian gastronomy. “Yes, in some innovative manner, there would be an introduction to street food, and local and regional cuisines of India. The chefs are working overtime to finalize the menu, keeping all aspects in mind. But certainly, there will be some exposure,” Pardeshi told PTI.

A Flavourful Journey Through India’s Streets:

One of the culinary highlights of this summit will be a journey through the bustling streets of Chandni Chowk, a renowned hub for Indian street food. As part of their visit to the international media center, world leaders will get to sample the delights of India’s street cuisine, an experience that promises to tantalize their taste buds and provide a glimpse into the vibrant food culture of the nation.

Delhi’s renowned street food scene, particularly in the Chandni Chowk area, is famous for its eclectic mix of flavors and dishes. This culinary escapade will undoubtedly be a memorable highlight of the summit, allowing leaders to appreciate the authentic, down-to-earth flavors that define India’s street food culture.

A Millet Marvel:

Adding an element of health and sustainability to the menu, the summit will also feature a selection of millet-based dishes. Millets, known for their climate-resilience and high nutritional value, are staple grains for over half a billion people across Asia and Africa and are cultivated in more than 130 countries.

The International Year of Millets (IYM) 2023, championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to position India as a global hub for millets. This vision is reflected in the G20 Summit’s menu, which includes innovative millet recipes grown across the country. From Ragi Litti to Chokha, these dishes not only showcase the diversity of millet cuisine but also emphasize their significance in sustainable and nutritious eating.

A Global Movement:

The inclusion of millet-based dishes in the G20 Summit menu is not a mere culinary choice but a symbol of India’s commitment to promoting these ancient grains as a global movement. Prime Minister Modi’s vision for IYM 2023 is to spread awareness about millets’ benefits and establish India as a leader in millet production and consumption.

Conclusion

As luxury hotels in Delhi gear up to welcome heads of state and delegates for the G20 Summit, they are competing to offer gourmet delights that include these nutrient-rich millet-based dishes. This culinary journey through India’s diverse culinary landscape, from the bustling streets of Chandni Chowk to the ancient grains of millet, adds an unforgettable dimension to the G20 Summit, showcasing India’s commitment to nurturing both its people and the planet.
