This sweet delicacy is accompanied by two other popular Indian desserts, Falooda and Kulfi Falooda, in this esteemed selection, solidifying India’s position as a hub for delightful street food treats.

Taste Atlas, a renowned food-based magazine known for its comprehensive reviews and information on street food from across the globe, has shed light on the exceptional taste and cultural significance of Mysore Pak. Hailing from Karnataka, this sumptuous dessert has not only captivated the taste buds of Kannadigas but has also won the hearts of numerous South Indians.

DK Shivakumar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, expressed his jubilation at the recognition received by Mysore Pak in a tweet. He conveyed, “Kannadigas are proud to see Mysore Pak ranked 14th among the world’s top 50 street sweets by Taste Atlas. It brings back fond childhood memories of sharing Mysore Pak with my father and relatives who would often bring it home.”

While the name “Mysore Pak” indicates its origin in Karnataka’s Mysore, there has been an ongoing debate regarding its true birthplace. Some claim that Mysore Pak was first created in Tamil Nadu and later introduced to Mysore. However, DK Shivakumar firmly believes that Mysore Pak belongs to Karnataka and is a testament to the hard work and skill of countless chefs who have made it a household name. He emphasized, “It was born in the Mysore Palace and has reached every household today.”

The recognition of Mysore Pak on the global stage showcases India’s rich culinary heritage and the love for Indian street food sweets around the world.
