The cyclonic storm named Biparjoy has intensified into a very severe cyclonic storm and is currently approaching the coastlines of coastal Karnataka and Kerala. As a result, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings of heavy rainfall accompanied by gale winds in these regions, including Bengaluru, on Thursday.
The IMD further predicted that the onset of the monsoon is likely to reach Kerala by Friday, bringing with it the anticipated rainfall and weather disturbances caused by the cyclone.
While the center of the cyclone will experience strong gale winds, the Konkan coast, which includes Kerala, Karnataka, and Goa, can expect squally weather conditions until June 12, according to the IMD’s bulletin released on Wednesday.
Residents and authorities in coastal Karnataka and Kerala are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions to ensure the safety of individuals and property in the face of the approaching cyclonic storm and its associated heavy rainfall and gale winds.
The intensification of Cyclonic Storm Biparjoy serves as a reminder of the significance of accurate weather forecasting and preparedness in coastal regions, as communities brace themselves for the potential impact of extreme weather events.
