In a heartbreaking incident that unfolded on Tuesday during the auspicious occasion of ‘Ganga Dussehra’, an 18-year-old man lost his life to drowning while taking a holy dip in the sacred waters of the Ganga. The unfortunate incident occurred at the Majhouwan Ghat in the Haldi police station area of the district.

According to the police, the young man identified as Sumeet Bharti was immediately rushed to the Community Health Center in Sonwani after the authorities were informed of the incident. However, upon his arrival, the doctors on duty declared him dead, leaving the family and the community in a state of shock and sorrow.

The local authorities have taken swift action and have sent the body for postmortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of the young man’s tragic demise. Preliminary investigations suggest that the drowning occurred due to unforeseen circumstances while Sumeet Bharti was taking part in the religious ritual.

Further details revealed that the deceased hailed from Bihar’s Chhapra district and had traveled to Majhouwan village to visit his aunt. The pilgrimage to the holy river was meant to be a sacred and joyous occasion for Sumeet Bharti and his family, but it quickly turned into a devastating tragedy.

The news of the young man’s untimely death has sent shockwaves through the local community and has cast a pall of grief over the festive atmosphere of Ganga Dussehra. Family, friends, and neighbors have gathered to offer their condolences and support to Sumeet Bharti’s grieving family, who are trying to come to terms with the sudden loss of their beloved son.

Authorities have emphasized the need for caution and awareness while participating in religious rituals near bodies of water. They have urged devotees to prioritize their safety and take necessary precautions, such as using life jackets and swimming only in designated areas, to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.

As the postmortem examination is conducted and the investigation progresses, it is hoped that the findings will shed light on the circumstances surrounding this devastating event. The local community remains united in mourning, offering solace to Sumeet Bharti’s family during this difficult time.

The incident serves as a solemn reminder of the importance of vigilance and safety, even during sacred rituals. It is a poignant moment to reflect on the fragility of life and the significance of cherishing every precious moment we have. May Sumeet Bharti’s soul rest in peace, and may his family find strength and support in the midst of their profound loss.
