Rahul Gandhi predicts MP elections outcome in congress favour

In a recent press conference held after the Congress party’s ‘election preparedness meet’ in Delhi, Rahul Gandhi, a prominent leader of the Congress party, expressed his optimism about the upcoming Madhya Pradesh assembly election. Gandhi confidently predicted that the party would secure 150 out of 230 seats in the state assembly, drawing parallels with the party’s success in the Karnataka election.

Addressing the media, Gandhi stated, “Our internal assessment indicates that after securing 136 seats in Karnataka, we are now projected to win 150 seats in Madhya Pradesh.” He further added that the Congress party’s detailed strategy and preparedness discussions had been fruitful, contributing to their positive outlook for the upcoming election.

When questioned about the chief ministerial candidate for Madhya Pradesh, Gandhi refrained from providing a direct response. Instead, he emphasized the party’s primary goal of winning 150 seats, indicating that the decision on the chief ministerial candidate would be made at a later stage.

The meeting in Delhi was attended by several top Congress leaders, including party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, senior leader Digvijay Singh, and AICC general secretary KC Venugopal. The leaders convened to discuss the upcoming assembly election in Madhya Pradesh and deliberate on the party’s strategy and key issues for the polls.

In addition to the Madhya Pradesh election, Congress leaders from Rajasthan, including Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot, were also scheduled to meet in Delhi. Both Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are set to hold elections by the end of this year. Currently, Rajasthan is under the governance of the Congress party, led by Ashok Gehlot, while Madhya Pradesh is governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with Shivraj Singh Chouhan serving as the chief minister.

Ahead of the assembly election, the Congress party recently released a list of five promises for the people of Madhya Pradesh. These promises include providing gas cylinders at a subsidized rate of ₹500, offering ₹1500 to every woman per month, free electricity of 100 units and halved rates for 200 units, farm loan waivers, and the implementation of the old pension scheme.

It is worth noting that in the previous 2018 assembly elections, the Congress emerged as the largest party and formed the government under Kamal Nath’s leadership. However, Nath’s government faced challenges in 2020 when 23 Congress MLAs, owing allegiance to Jyotiraditya Scindia, resigned, reducing the government to a minority. Subsequently, the BJP formed the government under Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s leadership.

As the assembly polls draw closer, the political landscape in Madhya Pradesh is set to witness intense campaigning and competition between the Congress and BJP. With Rahul Gandhi’s optimistic prediction of winning 150 seats, the Congress party aims to reclaim power in the state and bring about changes aligned with its promised agenda.
