The incident occurred last week when the victim was allegedly shot by her classmate, who later took his own life. The father of the deceased student filed the complaint, naming two additional individuals in the FIR.

According to the police, the victim and the perpetrator had been in a relationship for over a year but had recently broken up. The father of the deceased student alleged that his daughter had informed him about the accused’s harassment and immoral behavior, but the university failed to take any action, ultimately leading to her death. The father also mentioned the existence of a video made by the perpetrator, which discussed the murder and implicated a university staffer, another student, and an individual from Kanpur.
The FIR has been lodged under sections of the Indian Penal Code related to murder, stalking, and criminal conspiracy. The police have vowed to investigate all aspects of the case and take appropriate legal action based on the evidence and findings.
Meanwhile, the Shiv Nadar University has strongly condemned the dissemination of false information about the institution and expressed regret over such malicious attempts. The university referred to an email from the deceased student, where she detailed instances of assault by the accused but did not want to pursue formal action due to concerns about her family’s reaction. The university claimed to have taken the matter seriously, providing counseling and imposing restraining orders on both students.
Although the university repeatedly urged the victim to file a formal complaint, she chose not to, citing her family’s potential negative response. Despite the absence of a formal complaint, the university asserts that it took all possible actions to address the situation within the constraints imposed.
