In a remarkable display of excellence, female candidates have once again dominated the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination, securing the top ranks for the second consecutive year. Delhi University alumna Ishita Kishore has emerged as the topper in the UPSC exam 2022, leading a group of talented women who clinched the top four ranks. The results, announced today by the UPSC, reveal the remarkable achievements of these aspirants.

Ishita Kishore, a graduate in Economics from Delhi’s prestigious Shri Ram College of Commerce, secured the first position in her third attempt at the UPSC examination. Expressing her joy and determination to serve the nation, she expressed her desire to join the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). Kishore attributed her success to rigorous preparation, including practicing previous years’ question papers, making notes from newspapers, and thorough revisions.

Celebrating the remarkable achievement, Union Minister Jitendra Singh took to Twitter to congratulate the toppers, highlighting the women’s remarkable performance. The top three positions were secured by Ishita Kishore, Garima Lohia, and Uma Harathi N, with Smriti Mishra securing the fourth rank. Among the top 25 candidates, 14 were women, showcasing their prowess in the highly competitive examination.

Garima Lohia, who secured the second rank, and Smriti Mishra, who achieved the fourth rank, are both graduates of Delhi University. Uma Harathi N, who attained the third position, is an engineering graduate from IIT-Hyderabad. The success of these accomplished individuals reflects their dedication and hard work throughout their academic journey.

Out of the 933 candidates who qualified the UPSC exam 2022, 320 were women and 613 were men, according to the Union Public Service Commission. This notable gender parity among the top 25 candidates is a testament to the growing influence and achievements of women in the civil services domain.

The UPSC examination is considered one of the most prestigious and challenging tests in India, attracting thousands of aspirants each year. It serves as a gateway to a wide range of government services, including the coveted Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service, and Indian Foreign Service, among others.

The consistent success of women candidates in the UPSC examination underscores their determination, competence, and dedication to public service. Their achievements inspire and encourage countless young aspirants across the country to pursue their dreams and contribute to the development and progress of the nation.

As Ishita Kishore and her fellow toppers prepare to embark on their careers in public service, their resounding success sends a powerful message that gender is no barrier to achieving one’s goals and making a positive impact on society. The nation eagerly awaits the invaluable contributions these bright minds will make in shaping India’s future.
