Kargil War Marty's brilliant son chose Indian Military Academy over IIM
Kargil War Martyr’s son

In a truly inspiring display of dedication and patriotism, Prajwal Samrit, the son of Lance Naik Krishnaji Samreet, a martyr of the Kargil War, has made the courageous decision to turn down two offers from the prestigious Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and join the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun. Prajwal’s choice to follow in his father’s footsteps and serve in the Indian Army has captivated the nation, reaffirming the indomitable spirit that runs deep within the families of our valiant soldiers.

Hailing from the Pulgaon tehsil of Wardha district in Maharashtra, Prajwal resides with his mother, Sarita, and elder brother, Kunal. Despite achieving an outstanding 97.51 percentile in the Common Admission Test (CAT) for MBA, Prajwal decided to honor his father’s dream and dedicate himself to the service of the nation.

Prajwal’s academic excellence can be traced back to his school days, and he continued to shine in his educational pursuits. After completing his BSc Electronics from Fergusson College in Pune, he set his sights on joining the Indian Army. Prajwal successfully cleared the Services Selection Board (SSB) exam and passed the required medical examination, securing admission to the Indian Military Academy.

Commencing in the first week of July, Prajwal will embark on an arduous 18-month training program at the prestigious Indian Military Academy in Dehradun. Upon completion of his training, he will serve the nation as a lieutenant in the Indian Army, upholding the proud legacy of his father.

In a heartfelt interview with Aaj Tak, Prajwal revealed that he was born just 45 days after his father’s martyrdom. His mother, Sarita, had always nurtured the hope that one of her sons would join the armed forces. By fulfilling his late father’s dream, Prajwal has brought immense pride and joy not only to his own family but also to the entire nation.

Prajwal’s selfless decision to forgo the allure of prestigious management education and choose a path that resonates with his father’s sacrifice is a testament to the unyielding spirit of our military families. It serves as a poignant reminder that the bravery and dedication of our soldiers extend far beyond the battlefield, permeating the very fabric of their loved ones’ lives.

As Prajwal embarks on his journey to the Indian Military Academy, the nation stands in admiration, saluting his unwavering determination and steadfast commitment to the service of the country. His story will undoubtedly inspire countless young individuals to follow their hearts and embrace the call of duty, reinforcing the values that make our armed forces the pride of our nation.

Prajwal Samrit’s choice to honor his father’s sacrifice by joining the Indian Military Academy is a powerful reminder of the indomitable spirit and unwavering resolve that fuels our armed forces, ensuring the safety and security of our great nation.
