In a move that showcases the Bollywood industry’s continued interest in the lucrative real estate market, Salman Khan’s family is reportedly set to invest in a lavish 19-storey sea-facing hotel in Bandra. The Mumbai-based Municipal Corporation, commonly known as BMC, has already approved the proposed project, according to sources.

The prime location for the hotel is a plot on Carter Road, Bandra, which previously housed the residential Starlet CHS. Originally, the Khan family had purchased apartments in the residential building with the intention of redevelopment. However, their plans have since changed, and they now aim to construct a luxury hotel on the property.

Architectural plans submitted by Sapre & Associates, the Khans’ chosen architect, reveal an impressive 19-storey hotel with a height of 69.90 meters. The hotel design includes three-level basements, a cafe and restaurant on the first and second floors, a gymnasium and swimming pool on the third floor, a service floor on the fourth, a convention center spanning the fifth and sixth floors, and the remaining floors, from the seventh to the nineteenth, designated for hotel rooms.

Salma Khan, the mother of actor Salman Khan, is listed as the owner of the property in the submitted proposal. However, it is important to note that no visible signs of construction are currently present on the plot, as an existing building will need to be demolished to make way for the hotel.

When contacted for a comment, a spokesperson for Salman Khan stated that they would verify the information with the actor’s office and provide a response.

Salman Khan is not the only Bollywood personality with a keen interest in real estate. Other prominent actors, such as John Abraham and Hrithik Roshan, have also made substantial investments in the Mumbai property market. While John Abraham purchased a prime plot in Union Park back in 2009, sources indicate that he currently has no immediate plans for development. On the other hand, Hrithik Roshan and his father Rakesh have invested in luxury apartments and commercial properties across the city.

This trend of Bollywood celebrities investing in real estate is not new. Historically, as the Indian film industry flourished in the 1940s and 1950s, actors and filmmakers acquired large bungalows in suburbs like Malad, Chandivli, Juhu, and Bandra, where the major studios were located. Over time, the focus shifted to iconic locations such as Marine Drive, Bandra, and Juhu.

The news of Salman Khan’s family venturing into the hotel industry highlights the industry’s wise financial choices and aspirational investment strategies. Real estate continues to be regarded as a safe and stable option for celebrities in India, offering long-term value and financial security.

As the plans for the sea-facing hotel progress, enthusiasts of the Bollywood superstar eagerly await further updates on this exciting venture in Bandra.
